Mourning Lady (Our Lady of Sorrows Project)
"Mourning Lady" is a silent video short by intermedia artist Amy Woodruff. It is an early component of The Our Lady of Sorrows Project, a performance/visual art installation by Malley Weber and Amy Woodruff. Weber is a clay artist, poet, and performer from Maine, and Woodruff is a performer, fabric artist/costumer, and projection installation artist from Louisiana. The piece will address varying archetypes of womens grief, loss, and depressive illness and is currently in development. This video is a preliminary draft of one of the characters, the Mourning Lady, who will appear as one of the key aspects of the final project. She does not speak; she only sings in lament. She has the ability to transform into another being. She is from another time. She has lost someone. She searches. She is a broken love goddess. Filmed and edited by Amy Woodruff in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 14-15, 2009. Gas Blowers Ideas
